In collaboration with international and Japanese partners, the Kyushu University UNESCO Chair organises and supports a number of conferences, symposia, workshops and smaller events - both online and face-to-face.   In September 2021 the 12th biennial conference of the Comparative Education Society of Asia will be hosted by Kathmandu University, on the theme ‘Valuing Diversity in Education: Formal and Informal Learning Across Cultures’.

  Philosophy of Education joint workshops: Kyushu University and Ateneo de Manila (hosted by Kyushu University’s Dr. Anton Sevilla; usually held annually)

Recent events:

• In January 2021, Professor Vickers, in collaboration with Professor Ann Heylen of National Taiwan Normal University and other international colleagues, hosted the second East Asian Popular Culture Conference. This event was supported by Kyushu University’s Progress 100 scheme.

  In February-March 2021, Prof. Vickers, Dr. Chen Sicong and colleagues hosted a series of webinars on the theme: Identity Politics and the Challenges of Cultural Diversity Across Contemporary Asia
